Understanding the true cost of Ai starts at the bench.
Randomly is where we build, test and compare. Try the tools, set up an agent, and watch what each answer costs.
We work in small steps, keep our notes, and publish what we learn.

This site sends Google Analytics 4 one manual page_view for the root page. Site-supplied fields are page_path limited to /, a query-free page location whose hostname identifies this site, and environment labels in traffic_type and a user property.
GA4 may use a first-party analytics cookie and pseudonymous client and session identifiers. It receives browser language and broad browser, device, and platform categories, and derives country plus broader region, subcontinent, and continent from the IP address before Google discards it. Granular location and device collection is disabled for every region, so GA4 does not collect city or city coordinates, the browser user-agent or minor version, device brand, model, or name, operating-system or platform minor versions, or screen resolution.
Referrer, Google signals, advertising personalization, automatic page views, full URLs, query strings, names, email addresses, payment activity, form or authentication data, prompts, responses, API keys, precise location, and user-supplied text are disabled or excluded. Random Knights, LLC is responsible for this analytics data. See Google's privacy policy.
Community totals (optional, off by default). If you turn on contributing in the terminal, we receive one small summary for each day: the day, the model name, the tool name, whether token counts were reported or estimated, and counts of tokens and responses. We work out energy, carbon and water ourselves. We do not receive prompts, replies, file or folder names, keys, your computer's name, your location, or the time of any response. For up to 8 days we can match the summary to your account to stop double counting and to let you delete it. After that it is added into a monthly total with other people's numbers and no longer points to you. We show a total only when at least 50 people are in it, and we round counts. You can stop any time with aieds contribute off and delete numbers not yet added into a total with aieds contribute delete. Numbers already added into a total cannot be taken out. This is separate from connecting your account and from site analytics: contributing sends nothing to Google Analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (such as network address) for a limited time for security. We do not use them to build the community totals. You must be 13 or older.
Launchpad tool. The Launchpad page at /tools/1aunchpad/ reads a lanes ledger file you pick, in your browser, and never uploads it. It keeps a pairing token for your local micr0pad bridge in your browser's local storage (key rk-tools:pad-token) until you disconnect. It talks only to servers running on your own computer (localhost ports 4013 and 4120), and it sends nothing to us and nothing to Google Analytics. Signing in on the tools pages is handled by Google or GitHub.
Beta list and updates. If you join the beta list or ask to be told about updates, we collect the email address you type, the name you type if you give one, which Random Knights site you used, and when you signed up. We use it only to email you about rand0m.ai and the Random Knights engineering tools. We store it in a private Cloud Firestore database in our Google Cloud project. Only our team can read it. We do not sell it, share it, or use it for advertising. We do not send it to Google Analytics. We do not store your IP address or browser details in the list; ordinary request logs kept by our hosting provider may contain them for a short time. We keep it until you ask us to remove it. We also delete entries that are more than 24 months old, in a review of the list that we do by hand at least every three months, so an entry can stay a little past 24 months. To be removed, email privacy@rand0m.ai from the address you joined with. Removal finishes within 30 days. You must be at least 13 years old to join. Deleting a rand0m.ai account does not remove a beta list entry, because the list is not tied to an account. Questions: knights@rand0m.ai.
Randomly Engineering tools are built for curiosity, research, and responsible innovation. We aim to give users more insight into their Ai energy, carbon, and water usage and its impact on our Earth.
K13E+AiEDs:
Ai General Response, Earth + Ai Impact, and Ai Energy Disclosure
our idea is simple: Earth > Ai
Tech is cool, but our Planet should be cooler.
Ai complicates our world and is consuming our natural resources at an astounding rate. We want to show you the energy, carbon, water, and tree-time estimates of your agent interactions and how it relates to the systems on Earth that keep our Planet healthy.
We simplify the way information is consumed, giving you the juice box "quick squeeze" reporting on Earth systems and your impacts with Ai.

Energy and carbon are modeled estimates. Tree-Time and equivalents are educational comparisons. This is not a measured run; prompt and reasoning tokens are excluded. Output tokens are estimated.

Tree-time: we compare the time it takes one mature tree to absorb the carbon from your Ai activity. Our reference tree is a healthy tree in steady growth that absorbs 21 kg of CO2 a year.
Data centers built for Ai use vast resources like electricity, land, and water. We want to know at what cost?
How much does your work impact our planet?
The average U.S. electricity carbon emission factor is about 0.81 pounds of CO2 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), or about 367 grams of CO2 per kWh, based on 2023 data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). AiEDs receipts use a fixed global figure of 429 grams of CO2e per kWh, so they will not match this U.S. average.
Tree-Time and equivalents are educational comparisons.
